Mining and Civil
Perth Surveying Services has significant exposure to Underground and Open Cut Mining operations. We have suitably qualified Grade 1 and 2 Authorised Mine Surveyors. Our services include but are not limited to the following.
Volume calculations are very important in mining to not only estimate the efficiency of machines and mining methods, but also to determine how much contractors should be paid if they are paid on a material-moved basis. Generally surveyors will be required to conduct these calculations once per month (it's referred to as 'End of Month' volumes) and provide them to various sections of the mining company. The process of calculating these volumes is by conducting survey 'pickups' or 'locations' using various methods.
Detailed feasibility studies are the most accurate and will determine definitively whether or not to proceed with a project. A detailed feasibility study will be the basis for capital appropriation, and will provide the budget figures for a project. Detailed feasibility studies require a significant amount of formal engineering work are accurate to within 10-15%, surveyors are used to determine accurate positions of ore bodies and locations.
- Control & Tenement locations
Before any applications are made for mining tenements the land should be marked out in the prescribed manner and in the prescribed shape, this is done by many methods of survey. Survey of Horizontal and Vertical control can be established at this point that is project specific and should remain for the term of the project.
- Exploration Drilling / Drill Collar Surveys
Accurate plotting of Exploration Holes for position and angle, Survey can be performed on collar locations showing azimuth of hole added to any exploration model you may have.
Setup or set out of mining camps through GPS or local coordinated systems.
Wharf construction including control, pile driving, steel erection, precast concrete placement, embedment installation, concrete levels, and conveyor and rail alignments.
Monitoring of Pit Walls, Dams, and Buildings or structures that are under construction or near to construction areas showing possible movement during critical stages or ongoing during construction.
